RE: Annual Report of the President

Members of Memphis Chapter of TAI, Inc.,

Congratulations on having completed our fourteenth year as a Tuskegee Airmen Chapter in the Memphis area.

This year we offered a combined total of three (3) Memphis Chapter Educational Assistance Fund and Aviation Assistance Fund (Scholarship) awards of $1000 each.

We were the host sponsor for the February 2011 MEMPHIS AVIATION PROFESSIONALS Annual Luncheon and Youth Awards and we provided tickets for students and accompanying educators to attend this luncheon at no cost to them.

We assisted in conducting the June and July 2010 Summer ACE Academy for youth ages 14-18 and throughout the 2010-2011 School Year we continued our program of Aviation in Schools visits where Aviation Professionals visit schools throughout the school year.  Members participated in career days and gave motivational speeches.  The number of schools requesting our participation continues to increase and I would like to see more of our members participate in school visits and career days.  Youth need guidance and role models.  Regardless of your profession, you can help.

Welcome to our new members and thanks to the members who continue to support this organization year after year.  Your support and commitment to the goals of this organization is very much appreciated as we continue to preserve the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen of W.W.II and "engage in motivating young persons, especially minorities, toward aviation and aerospace careers; to inspire youth to outstanding achievements and leadership through social and educational activities."

As usual, I ask that you continue to support the Educators, Parents, Students, Corporations, and other organizations who continue to assist us in achieving our goals.

Remember the old sayings that "action speaks louder than words" and "it's easier said than done".  As long as we remain a group of individuals with actions, we will get it done!

Sincerely,
Calvin Janes
