RE: Annual Report of the President

Members of Memphis Chapter of TAI,

Congratulations on having completed our thirteenth year as a Tuskegee Airmen Chapter in the Memphis area.

This year we offered a combined total of three (3) Memphis Chapter Educational Assistance Fund and Aviation Assistance Fund (Scholarship) awards of $1000 each.

We helped to sponsor the February MEMPHIS AVIATION PROFESSIONALS Annual Luncheon and Youth Awards and provided tickets for students to attend this luncheon at no cost to the students.

We allocated $1500 to be used by our members to conduct the June 2010 Summer ACE Academy for youth ages 14-18 and throughout the 2009-2010 School Year we continued our program of Aviation in Schools visits where Aviation Professionals visit schools throughout the school year. Members participated in career days, gave motivational speeches, and conducted Project Aviator/Aerospace at Woodale High School.

Welcome to our new members and thanks to the members who continue to support this organization year after year. During this period of difficult economic times in America and the rest of the World, your support and commitment to the goals of this organization is very much appreciated as we continue to "to engage in motivating young persons, especially minorities, toward aviation and aerospace careers; to inspire youth to outstanding achievements and leadership through social and educational activities."

Again, I ask that you continue to support the Educators, Parents, Students, Corporations, and other organizations who continue to assist us in achieving our goals.

As adults we must remember that as we speak to youth about being responsible, we must also remember that it is importance to lead by example. In many cases, what "you have done" and what "you are doing" often has a greater impact than what you "say you will do".

Thank you,
Calvin Janes
